Two people who found each other the modern way, Hinge!
There are many great prompts in the history of dating apps, and while Chris had none of them, he did happen to say the right thing at the right time. (set his Hinge location to Alexandria while living two hours away in Pennsylvania)
Question: "What are you looking for"
Answer "Someone with a full set of 50-state quarters."
A long shot? Sure. But love is a long shot.
What Chris did not know was that Marguerite Clemens was the daughter of THE Greg Clemens—an established coin collector—and didn't just have a full state quarter collection. She had two. Two. As in, 100 quarters.
Hinge chats quickly turned to texting, and texting turned into a date. A hot date. One of those summer nights that makes you question every decision you've ever made involving the outdoors. They sat outside. They pretended not to be dying. This, too, is love.
Marguerite fell for Chris. Most of all for his logic, creativity, and calmness to everything he does. She found him beyond respectful while also somehow one of the funniest people in the room. She quickly smuggled him out of the country for his first European adventure and adored his openness to trying new things (except vegetables)!
Chris could tell right away she was sweet. But sweet wasn't what got him. It was the determination. The way she moved through the world like she'd already decided how it was going to go and was just waiting for everyone else to catch up. She cared, deeply and without apology, about the people around her, about her place in things, and about the four-wheeled robots she spends most of her professional life wrangling. Don't ask him to explain the robots. He's just proud of her.
We can't wait to have you with us in Old Town and celebrate where it all began!
